Harvest ATCs

Here are 4 ATCs made with a Twisted Papers image for the Latest Trends in Mixed Media Arts group. I used a variety of Golden fluid acrylics for the background, then used leaf stencils. I sponged some interference green (YS) and then spattered some dark paint left over from painting art tissue. I found some old autumn magazine pages that someone had scrapped years ago, and tore them for a base for the image. I used parts of 2 autumn poems; one by Emily Dickinson and one by Edna St.Vincent Millay. I distressed the cards and text with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress inks. Lastly I tied some raffia that I then fingerpainted with a bit of copper fluid acrylic.

Emboss Resist Technique ATCs

Here are the ATCs I made using the Bernie Berlin Emboss Resist technique for Arttechniquesatcs. The lovely lady images are from Twisted Papers. It was fun making the resist backgrounds.

AOM for September- Monet

Here is a sample ATC I painted for the Arttechniquesatcs group. We feature an artist each month and September's is Monet. I love his waterlily paintings, and was inspired by a portion of one of his. It was hard mimicking his style in a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" format!

"Aged Paper- Fall Colors- Brass Charm" ATC swap

These ATCs were made for a swap with Arttechniquesatcs. We were to use aged paper, fall colors and a brass charm on each card. I have been enjoying painting tissue papers and layering them for backgrounds. So, that is what the backgrounds are. The brown texture comes from added coffee grounds to the paint. The leaves are either a crayon batik or a faux rust technique.

This ATC is called "The Leaves Last Act". I wanted to use these drama mask charms.

Architectural Elements ATC

I had a different design in mind when I started, but this is what came out! I used Dover architectural images and for the background (just changed the color), and added the stamped face and a few metal brads and some distress inks. This is for a swap for arttechniquesatcs.

Last of Metal Tape Series

I did this one with an "echo" effect, thus calling it "Echoes of Time." This Twisted Papers collage sheet has great images!

Technique: put Metal tape onto a cardstock foundation. Lay image on card. Trace outline with a stylus. Remove image, and "echo" the traced line to the edges of the card. Apply liquid acrylic paint and rub off; apply and rub again until al the creases are filled with paint. Attach image to card.

Another Metal Tape ATC

Number 4 in the Metal Tape series. I am using images from Twisted Papers. The woman is from one of their downloadable collage sheets, the corners are from one of their CDs.

Metal Tape Technique

Here are my first three Metal Tape Technique ATCs. These are for the arttechniquesatc group. This technique uses hardware store metal tape that you can emboss and then highlight with black acrylic paint, or you can color it with alcohol inks (landscape ATC in center). I used some Twisted paper images from a downloadable collage sheet. The tape is fun to play around with!

Anne Bagby Style ATC #5

Here is my last in the Anne Bagby series. I really enjoyed working with this DaVinci image. I incorporated some serendipity squares into the background of this ATC, and some inchies.

AOM Bagby #3

This is #3 in the AOM Anne Bagby series. I began with a "poured ink" watercolor paper background. I added a couple of pieces of handpainted paper; one done with oil pastels and webbing spray; the other with Lyra Watercolor crayons and texture templates (Outside the Margins). I used the same DaVinci image which had been tweaked a bit differently than the other two ATCs done previously. I added a handpainted paper halo, and a handpainted paper bottom border. I also used my own handcarved heart stamp on the background and on the bottom of the card. I added some Inktense watercolor pencils to the image and some white paint pen and gold pen dots to the halo. Black Sharpie pen was used for the lines on the halo.

Tim Holtz Style

This is the last of my series of 6 ATCs using Tim Holtz' style. This swap is for arttechniquesatcs. I used a decorative paper background which I distressed and sprayed Moon Shadow Mists. I then added a torn piece of Tim Holtz' key paper and a torn piece from an old dictionary. I distressed these with Distress Inks. I lastly added a metal key and some metal and sticker letters.

Another in the Tim Holtz style. I do love the distressed aged look to these. I used old dictionary text, Moon Mists in Burnt Umber, Vintage Photo and Antique Linen Distress Ink, a TwistedPaper image, Tim Holtz paper (the block the boy is sitting on), and some sticker letters which I distressed a bit. I added a punched metal crown that I embossed with a stylus.

This is number 4 in the Tim Holtz-style AOM swap for arttechniquesatcs. I made a notecard using this image by importing this image into Print Shop, adding a small pen to the girl's hand and then at an angle I added the words, "of Thanks". My thank you notes for Mother's Day gifts. ATCS can be used in so many ways! I love that.

Third one in my AOM Tim Holtz-style series. Again, used Distress Inks, Moon Mist on the background; distressed the tag; tape measure sticker, letters and image of girl. Trying to avoid wings and hats for a while!

AOM Tim Holtz Style

Second in my series for the Tim Holtz Style AOM Swap. I used old text for the background sprayed with Burnt Umber Moon Mists. Used Tim Holtz Measuring Tape Paper; menswear-looking scrapbook paper; old dictionary text; 2 vintage images; metal brads and sticker letters. Sanded to give an aged appearance and added Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Vintage Photo and Antique Linen.

AOM for May- Tim Holtz Style

Here is an ATC for the AOM Tim Holtz-style swap. I used Moon Mists on glossy photo paper for the background. I added part of an old dictionary page; another old paper; a vintage image; a Tim Holtz block letter; measuring tape and key stickers. I sanded the card as I went and added Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Vintage Photo and Antique Linen. The card is backed with cardstock that is covered with antique pattern paper that was sprayed with Moon Mists in Burnt Umber.

Inspired by Tim Holtz DVD

I was watching Tim Holtz's first DVD today for inspiration for the arttechniquesatcs May AOM (Artist of the Month) Swap. I started by doing a watercolor stamping on an old page of a Trigonometry textbook that had been Xyroned onto beige cardstock; added some paper bits; then added a found image and a slide mount I had covered and put Perfect Pearls and Crystal Lacquer on. I added Gold Leaf Rub n Buf to the textured paper. I then found these cool flowers someone sent to me as a hostess goodie and added them. Lastly I put a dab of Crystal Lacquer and some of those teeny little beads in the center of each flower. Probably not "Holtzy" enough for the swap, but it is "Sherre" enough to please me. Art is making what you like, right?
